COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (December 12, 2006) – Averitt Express is expanding its fleet to better serve its customers with the introduction of Sprinter cargo vans in key metropolitan areas.

“The vans will be used to make deliveries to customers with small, unpalletized freight or to customers who lack adequate dock space to accommodate larger trucks,” said Richard King, Averitt’s vice president of operations.

Some advantages to adding Sprinter cargo vans to Averitt’s equipment fleet include:

• Fuel Efficiency – The new vans should get an estimated 15 miles per gallon versus standard tractors that average six miles per gallon.  Also, the vans have lower emissions than standard tractors.

• Maneuverability – The smaller-sized vans are easier to maneuver in heavily congested cities and narrow delivery zones than full-sized tractor-trailers.

Each van will be equipped with Qualcomm® technology so customers will be able to trace their cargo van shipments just like any other Averitt shipment. Averitt's plans do not involve using the cargo vans for residential deliveries.
