Averitt Cares - Averitt Express Associate Charities
Averitt's associates are very active in supporting charitable organizations. In fact, Averitt's associates charities program, Averitt Cares, was one of the first associate-supported charities of its kind when it was launched in 1986.
Averitt Cares is 100% funded by voluntary contributions of our associates and has made a difference in the lives of millions of people. Since 1986, Averitt Cares has donated nearly $4 million to charities, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Corporate Donations
Averitt has received numerous charitable awards for its corporate giving and has actively supported groups such as: Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, Arthritis Foundation, American Lung Association, Humane Society, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Prevent Blindness Tennessee, YMCA, Second Harvest Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, United Way, United Cerebral Palsy, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, among many others.
Environmental Responsibility
Averitt is proud to participate in the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay program. SmartWay is a voluntary public-private initiative designed to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution and promote cleaner, more efficient ground freight transportation. Averitt has taken several steps to show its commitment to meeting specific environmental and energy saving goals over a three-year period. SmartWay and its partners are on pace to reduce approximately 3.1 million tons carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, 800 tons particulate matter (PM) and 22,000 tons nitrogen oxides (NOx) annually and save approximately 284 million gallons of fuel per year by 2007.
