PRESS RELEASE

Averitt Shipping from South to Western Canada Next Business Day
Improved efficiencies provide carrier with
class-leading service to Calgary and other Alberta cities

Cookeville, Tenn. (July 18, 2011) – Averitt Express has opened lanes between thousands of Southern cities and western Canada with transit times as fast as next-business-day.

The improved service times apply to shipments moving to and from all cities in Texas and Louisiana, as well as portions of Arkansas and Mississippi and shipments moving to and from a wide variety of cities in western Canada, including Calgary and Edmonton.

The improved transit is the product of a highly optimized program the carrier has put together due to increasing demand by shippers to move freight affordably and quickly. As an example of the transit times available with the new service, Averitt customers shipping between these areas can have their shipments picked up on Friday and delivered to their destinations on Monday.

“Our customers expressed a need for this type of service, and our operations team built a model that allows us to optimize freight movement from the Southwestern U.S. to Calgary and other points in western Canada,” said Phil Piece, executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re essentially moving across the continent in one less day than most other carriers in these lanes. That’s next-business-day service without the premium price point.”

Averitt has partnered with Canadian Freightways, one of the leading LTL carriers in Canada, to make the enhanced service in these lanes possible. And because Averitt and Canadian Freightways are partners in The Reliance Network, customers enjoy complete visibility and seamless service from pickup to delivery.

Optimizing this service is one of the ways Averitt is helping its customers do business with the U.S.’s largest trade partner. More than $523 billion worth of combined imports and exports crossed the Canada-U.S. border last year.
