Averitt improves service to eastern Canada COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 11, 2012) – Averitt has announced it has rolled out improved less-than-truckload service times to eastern Canada. With the improvements, LTL shipments moving from selected points within Averitt’s distribution network will now receive faster transit to eastern Canada, including the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City. The improvements were made possible by operational adjustments within Averitt’s network, as well as the network of Kingsway Transport, a fellow member of The Reliance Network. “Canada is the United States’ largest trading partner, so Canada is a critical market for our customers,” said Phil Pierce, Averitt’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re proud of our service to and from Canada, which is made possible by our outstanding relationships with fellow members of The Reliance Network, Kingsway Transport and Canadian Freightways. These most recent improvements to eastern Canada are poised to take our Canada offering to even greater heights.” Kingsway Transport is part of the largest transportation company in Canada. Through The Reliance Network, Averitt is closely integrated with these carriers in terms of operations, technology and other systems and processes. When a customer ships to and from Canada with Averitt, they can have the same level of trust and visibility they get when their shipments move through Averitt’s domestic distribution network. In terms of security and border clearance, Averitt has worked closely with federal agencies to earn certifications for several important cross-border security programs, including Free and Secure Trade, the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Partners in Prevention, and the Customs Self Assessment. The Reliance Network is a group of regional carriers, each known for its award-winning customer service and dependable on-time delivery, working together to provide LTL, truckload and supply chain freight services throughout North America with a single source of accountability.
