These days, everybody talks about thinking “outside of the box,” but it took stepping back inside the box for Averitt to help Trane find the packaging solutions they were looking for.

Trane’s facility in Macon, Ga., ships A/C units for hotels and building rooftops. Over the last couple of years, Averitt and Trane had been working on ways to reduce damages and claims on these sensitive shipments. Their first solution – developing a wooden crate specifically designed to ship the A/C units – reduced claims by 50%. But Averitt and Trane didn’t stop there.

Averitt had a relationship with DW Global, a company that manufactures collapsible, aluminum shipping boxes that can help protect cargo even better. Averitt introduced Trane and DW Global. The three companies started talking and then things really started moving. Averitt, Trane and DW Global worked together to lower Trane’s damages and claims even further.

Trane ordered 100 of DW Global’s Gaylord galvanized steel boxes to ship their A/C units and quickly realized they had fewer claims than ever before! This prompted them to order another 100 Gaylord boxes from DW Global. Because the boxes are also stackable, Trane and Averitt can further optimize warehouse and load capacity by stacking the boxes. Trane is now able to turn loads twice as fast, getting their shipments out of the warehouse and to the customer even faster.
